"Fantastic. Stopped for morning tea, cheescake and blue heaven thickshake which was the best I've had in years, served in the old fashioned metal container!! Friendly staff, very clean shop, good size indoor eating area (outside avail) nice on a hot day (good air con). I'm not a local but prefer to support small businesses and towns. Recommended."

"Very warm and friendly cafe and town. Violet Town, a town in Victoria, Australia, has a rich history rooted in both Indigenous occupation and European settlement. It was surveyed in 1838, and land sales began in 1839, becoming an important coach stop and hub on the Melbourne to Sydney Road. The town grew through the 1860s, with the arrival of the railway in 1872/3 further impacting its development. The town was also a significant location during World War II, with a RAAF fuel depot. Here's a more detailed look at Violet Town's history: Indigenous History: Aboriginal people inhabited the land around Violet Town for thousands of years before European settlement. Early European Settlement: The Scobies took up Honeysuckle Station in the 1840s, followed by land selectors and developers, leading to the town's growth. Development as a Hub: Violet Town became a key connecting point between Sydney, Bendigo, and other areas, particularly with the establishment of the Royal Mail Hotel in 1846. Railway Impact: The arrival of the railway in 1872/3 shifted the town's commercial center west of the line. Military History: Violet Town was represented in the Anglo-Boer War and had a war memorial built in 1901. During World War II, it housed RAAF No. 13 Inland Aircraft Fuel Depot. Shire Formation and Abolishment: The Shire of Violet Town was incorporated in 1895 and abolished in 1994, with its area merging into other shires and a city. Major Events: The town was also the site of a major railway disaster in 1969 involving the Southern Aurora train."
